The Farmhouse
The Casale De Vivo is a private house dating back to the 1600s, owned by my family for over 50 years. It is a place full of history and memories, a home that has accompanied my familyโs life for generations, always tied to the land and its traditions.
I grew up listening to the stories of my mother Felicia and my maternal grandparents, known as Tanino and Rosina (their real names were Gaetano and Rosa), humble farmers who dedicated every day of their lives to working the land with passion and devotion. Before them, it was my great-grandparents who worked this land for the noble Neapolitan family who originally owned the Casale. For years, they cultivated the fields and gathered the fruits, which they would give to the Conte De Vivo every day. Over time, the Conte decided to transfer ownership of the house to my grandfather Gaetano, and it is here today that we welcome our guests, inviting them to discover this house and its rich history.
Surrounded by flowers, vineyards, and chestnut groves, the Casale still retains its ancient courtyard and a large vegetable garden, which continues to be the heart and soul of our home.
My family has always followed the rhythm of the seasons: in winter, we sow; in spring, we prune the vines and harvest the first fruits. Summer brings the tomato harvest and the preparation of preserves, which will accompany the family throughout the year. Finally, autumn is the time for the grape harvest and the gathering of chestnuts.
